Catch up/Project 14

We need to do a little catch up here we have had a busy last few days. Project 14 was sugar cookies! We had so much fun making them and decorating them with good friends. The kids actually only did one cookie each then were ready to get back to playing. Adult conversation while decorating what seemed like thousands of sugar cookies made for a good time by all. The sugar cookie recipe is one I got from my sister-in-law and they stay soft and fluffy, melt in your mouth and are amazing. I will have to ask her permission to share.

Cookie anyone?

We had a fun time with Grandma and Grandpa and are looking forward to the other set coming tomorrow. My hubby and I will get to do a little Valentine/birthday getaway together while they are here!

We did an extra project today! I have been wanting to do this one since the beginning of the month but did not have the paint. Grandma brought us our paint. It was left at our house we moved from and I didn’t want to buy more when I had almost a full gallon on its way here. Good thing the boys’ foot prints are adorable and what makes the picture because I do not like my writing. This was done on an 8*10 canvas, I picked up a pack of two at WalMart for about 10 bucks!

Happy Valentines day!

Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at ShannaMade!

Yesterday we had busy day wth project 13 valentine baking!!! Don’t really know if I can call it baking since all we did was no bake recipes. I just mentioned the word cookies and Remington wanted to do Cookie dough cookies…Yes a recipe that is eggless cookie dough not for baking but just eating the dough! This one is my favorite pinterest pin! So we made cookie dough heart bites. We also made another of our favorites some homade reeces and we attempted to make in them hearts it didn’t work as well but we did manage to get a few! This recipe calls for semi-sweet chocolate I use milk chocolate for mine. Recipe links are at bottom of page!

Project 12- a lost privilege

I have been working on getting the last of few valentines photo/cards sent today. In the card for my husband’s grandparents I wanted to include a personal note as well so I got some card stock for the boys to draw a picture on for the card. Then the plan was to do this quick then our project. I got the crayons out and told Remington I needed to draw a picture on the card. He whined about needing a bigger one etc, etc so I decided to let them use stamps on it as well and stamp with hearts and love stamps. I went in my craft room to get the stamps and Remington was gone…he had gone upstairs. I grabbed all of the crayons and paper everything we would need and headed up. I get to the top of stairs and on the landing is green crayon scribbled on the floor, I walk into the kitchen green crayon all over the kitchen floor into the dining room and there is green crayon all over the kitchen table and still no sign of Remington (he is hiding in his room) So I told him he was going to stay in his room and stay on his bed in hopes that he would go to sleep. I let Winston make the card for Great Grandma and Grandpa. Remington stayed in his room for a while and was actually good about staying on the bed whining only once in a while that he wanted to come and the project and that he was going to be good now.(The story anytime he gets in trouble or doesn't get to do somthing.) It was already getting late and almost time for daddy to get home I decided to let him come out and not have to take a nap on the condition that he picks up his toys in the basement playroom. He whined some more about wanting to the project and tried to explain as best as I could to a four year old that sometimes because of our behavior we miss out privilges and sent down to clean up.

My boys need to get more sleep! They have been refusing to take naps and they wake up early. No matter how early or late they go to bed they wake up at the same time. They need to get more sleep as well as does mommy and everyone’s behavior is showing that! Hopefully we can get caught up soon and all be more cheerful with our company coming on Friday! My husband’s parents are coming this week and my parents the next so we are looking forward to that. My parents will be here for a little over a week so while they are here my husband and I will get to take a little valentine/my birthday vacation for a couple of days while they stay here with kiddos. We are looking forward to a much needed break. Here is to hoping we are up for a project of making some valentine sugar cookies within the next couple of days! I need to go check on how project clean up basment is coming along!

Project 11

My inspiration for project 10 came from a blog a good friend shared with me. Some you have probably heard of DanaMadeit well this the post from her blog that inspired this project I changed it a bit as I did not have little pom poms but I had cotton balls and we added a little glitter to the cotton balls to give them color (glitter always seems to be a big hit) TUTORIAL: Warm and Fuzzy Valentines. This was a perfect a project today because it was a low mess (except the glitter) and a pretty quick one since we didn’t have a lot of time today as we getting ready for company this evening.

Project 7-FAILURE... but a victory

From the time the kids woke up this morning until they finally just now settled in for night they have been wound up! With all the mess making happening, the pestering, the screaming, the chasing, etc the last thing I really was feeling like doing was a project. I thought though that maybe it would settle them down for a bit and they could do project while I did a little laundry folding or picking up books and whatever else was scattered everywhere! This project was something I just thought up on whim as I did not feel up to tackling our original project plan with paint. So I tried a little less messy paint project. I put some elbow macaroni noodles in a bowl and put the paint in the bowl too and mixed to color the macaroni. While the macaroni noodles dried we went to the store, they were still not dry so they decided they wanted to out and play in the snow. That lasted a few minutes as it was very cold! So after warming up with some cocoa we tried project. My intent with the macaroni was to have them string them on to wire then make into hearts, well the macaroni had too much of an elbow and we could not get the wire past that bend without breaking the noodle. So I quickly think of a Plan B I got some red paper and cut out hearts and put some glue on them so they could just glue the macaroni on them. Meanwhile they threw macaroni at each other, behind the corner table bench, and everywhere else, some of the macaroni was still wet so there was paint on the floor and walls! Ohhhhh boy not a happy mommy! We all got down to pick up macaroni then started gluing. They were doing pretty well with this so I just went in to use the rest room or something and in just the time doing that they had done it again…macaroni everywhere! By now I am really not happy! I send them downstairs and tell them better play nice or they can go to bed (in probably not the nicest of tones) and attempt to clean up the mess. Trying my best to ignore the chaos happening downstairs I attempt to clean up and just went I have had about had a knock on the door… UPS with a package even though it is addressed to my husband I know it is actually something for me. Something he ordered for me for my birthday coming up this made me smile. I think then of the other package that is here for me. The one that my sweet little messy four year old helped daddy pick out. How can I be mad now? Here he comes up the stairs. I tell him I am sorry for yelling at him and tell him the mess and all was just driving me nuts but if he could help pick up just some of it then we could go play. He then sat down on the little step that steps down from our kitchen to the back hallway that leads to the basement stairs and says “ Mama you drive me nuts but I still love you” Haha I had to laugh and said “ I guess we all just drive each other nuts and love each other too….Winston is driving me nuts right now climbing on the stool!” After getting Winston off the stool they decide they are not interested in doing any cleaning and head back downstairs to play. Ding whatever the sound that I have received a text: “Where does my beautiful bride want to eat tonight?” oh wow love that guy! How did he know I did not feel like cooking dinner or know what cook or just needed well this! How, how can I sometimes feel so angered, so uptight, so irritated when I am surround by so much love? I love this little family of mine such precious little dudes and one bigger one! I love them all! And if you come to my house and there is food, project stuff, underwear and what else scattered about and it bothers you can leave or help clean up because I am going to try to not let it bother me so much!

So there you have our project our hearts with worms I think that I would like to keep my heart from getting them!

1 plate 2 projects (Projects 3&4)

Using one paper plate we made two more projects today! Yeah we are all caught up now 4 days and 4 projects done! We actually used three plates because I had three little project makers here today. Each child got to make two projects using one plate though! We had a fun time with Lyrah this afternoon thanks for coming to work on our project and play with us!

Wreath and a heart

To make the wreath:

Materials:
Paper plate
tissue paper
glue
paint brush
ribbon
stapler
buttons
hearts...whatever else you would like to glue on

I folded the plate in half and cut out the center to get a circle for the wreath. I gave them each a litle plate with some glue on it and a paint brush to paint the glue on their plate then they ripped the tissue paper and glued to their hearts content.

They are so cute!

I used a small piece of wrapping ribbon and stapled it on the top to hang the wreath, then had them glue hearts or buttons over the staples to cover them.

For the heart...

Using the circle I cut out of the plate I folded it in half to cut out hearts. We then had fun decorating them with some glue and glitter and buttons!
