Thrill of the hunt

It is crazy how all the sudden life turns... well crazy! So much has been going on I find myself having a hard time keeping track of time and thinking...was just yesterday that we did that! Well one of the things we have been doing is hunting! The first trip was a few weeks ago my husband and I thought a little time together would be nice and what better way to do that in the outdoors, so my husband convinced his boss he needed to go hunting since it was the last day of the season and grandma took care of the kiddos and off we went for the day!

I started writing this post a couple of weeks ago and it has sat as a draft since. I thought things were crazy then! They have only become more so since that fist paragraph was written and this post is going in a completly different direction then what it was originally going to be about so the title probably won't make any since. The hunt we are on now is a house hunt!

Things have been crazy because we have since gone on a few more hunting trips as well as road trips and will be going on another to do a house hunt. Then after our return will pack everything up and do it again in a week! So in about three weeks we will have traveled about 6200 miles!

My husband had a phone interview for a job about 1000 miles from where we live now about a week later they wanted to an on site interview. So we drove our kids to Grandma and Grandpa's house then drove to where the interview was and then to get the kids again. So now to drive it again to find a house then again to move! We are looking forward to this new adventure!

Here is a few pictures from one of our hunts and from our travels

A project to Remember

I am so thankful today and every day for this line of our nations flag salute "One Nation under God" and also for the inscription on our money "In God We Trust". It seemed like an appropriate day for a little patriotic project with the boys.

As with most projects I attempt to do with a four year old and two year old "helping" as well they did not turn out perfect and only these two stars made it, but they had fun and it was good for me to remember again all those who have served/serve our country!

Kitchen Remodel in Progress

The kids and I just got back from a little trip to visit my mom and Dad while my husband was gone hunting. Just before we left I completed a project I have been wanting to get done! My kitchen counter tops have bothered me since moving in so I painted them!

A before photo. White boring counter tops that were all stained!

And after!

Last week we had plans to leave on Thursday to go my Mom and dad's/Grandma and Grandpa's. I wanted to get the counters done before then so the paint would have time to cure while we were gone. So on Sunday I moved everything off the counters and set up the essentails on our back porch and painted on two coats of primer!

My temporary kitchen on my back porch off of the kitchen/dinning area!

Using some paint I had in the garage, on Monday I got to work painting! On Tuesday and Wednesday I put on the clear coats of polycrylic, ten coats of that stuff to protect and get a nice shiny finish! My inspiration came from this site
http://prettylilposies.blogspot.com/2010/11/250-kitchen-makeover-with-20-granite.html

and also from this site on it you will find an excellent video tutorial. I love those!

A close up of the finish.

I also did this shelf above my washer and dryer. It was kinda a practice before attacking the counters!

Next I will paint the cabinets!

9 years!

Today my husband and I have been married for 9 years! We celebrated a little early with a get away a couple of weeks ago. We started by going to my parents and droping the kids off to have fun there then we went on our way.

Reminton and Winston having fun at Grandma and Grandpa's. The raft made a great pool!

This is pretty much what the little town of Levenworth looks like. It is lined with a bunch of little shops.

Even Starbucks gets a new look,no weird mermaid logo! The McDonalds also looked pretty fancy but I don't have a picture because no kids means no eating at McDonalds!

A stroll along the beautiful Wenatchee River. Not the greatest picture but it is about the only one we got of us.

A beautiful view from the lodge we stayed at.

A little getaway was very relaxing but we were happy to see these two little sweet monsters again!

Now in tryin to fix it everything is messed up! so if you click on any of the tabs (projects, recipes, etc. that is how I want it look. The home page used to look like that! I don't know how it got changed or how to change it back!

Winston's room

One little project I completed a few weeks ago was painting Winston's (my youngest son) room. I wanted to share because I just love the way it turned out. It still needs new carpet to be done, but it is almost there!

This is the only Before photo I could find of his room.

this is what his room looks like now!

I was searching for kids cowboy room ideas and found this idea from Buckaroo by Banana Fish to sell their crib set.

It was just perfect with the trim being in the middle of the wall. It looked simple enough for me to do. I had to tear off the green and white striped wall paper before painting the cow spots but did not have to paint the whole bottom wall as it was already white under the paper. I just love projects that turn out great and are simple!

Easiest bread recipe

I wanted to share this bread recipe because it is so easy and I use it for almost everything from pizza dough (which is what the original recipe called it) to rolls and bread!  There is actually another recipe I wanted to share but decided to start with this one because it is what I used for the chicken breading in the one to come soon!

1 Cup of warm water
1pkg yeast or 2 1/4 tsp from jar
1 tsp salt
1tsp sugar*
2 Tlb of cooking oil
2 1/2 cup of flour**

Dissolve yeast in the warm stir in remaining ingredients. Knead then let sit for 5 minutes, roll out into pizza dough, make rolls, whatever it is yo would like to do with it! Bake at 425 for 15 minutes!

* I have used honey instead of the sugar and it works too!

**dough will be sticky so you will need to knead more flour into it

More Tips

When I make this I knead the dough right in my mixing bowl so I don't get a flour mess to clean up my counter and roll it out right on the pizza pan!

You do not have to let this rise but you can if you have time and will make rolls, etc that are more fluffy!

When making a bread loaf you will need to let it rise and do not punch it down.  Works really well for a french type loaf!

A loaf will need to cook for 20 to 25 minutes or the center will still be doughy.

Kids photo shoot

I am very lucky to have a sister-in-law who is a professional photographer ( http://photography-by-kyla.blogspot.com/) so I  often get to have pictures taken of my boys! I however did these myself and often I do because we live  an hour away from each other and with both of our busy schedules it is hard to find time to get together to get the photos done, and well I kinda enjoy doing them myself! Someday I need to get a good camera and learn more about it.   I must say that I was quite proud to tell the WalMart photo lab that I took them When I went to pick them up and they said they needed to check the copyright on them!
