A project to Remember

I am so thankful today and every day for this line of our nations flag salute "One Nation under God" and also for the inscription on our money "In God We Trust". It seemed like an appropriate day for a little patriotic project with the boys.

As with most projects I attempt to do with a four year old and two year old "helping" as well they did not turn out perfect and only these two stars made it, but they had fun and it was good for me to remember again all those who have served/serve our country!

Kitchen Remodel in Progress

The kids and I just got back from a little trip to visit my mom and Dad while my husband was gone hunting. Just before we left I completed a project I have been wanting to get done! My kitchen counter tops have bothered me since moving in so I painted them!

A before photo. White boring counter tops that were all stained!

And after!

Last week we had plans to leave on Thursday to go my Mom and dad's/Grandma and Grandpa's. I wanted to get the counters done before then so the paint would have time to cure while we were gone. So on Sunday I moved everything off the counters and set up the essentails on our back porch and painted on two coats of primer!

My temporary kitchen on my back porch off of the kitchen/dinning area!

Using some paint I had in the garage, on Monday I got to work painting! On Tuesday and Wednesday I put on the clear coats of polycrylic, ten coats of that stuff to protect and get a nice shiny finish! My inspiration came from this site
http://prettylilposies.blogspot.com/2010/11/250-kitchen-makeover-with-20-granite.html

and also from this site on it you will find an excellent video tutorial. I love those!

A close up of the finish.

I also did this shelf above my washer and dryer. It was kinda a practice before attacking the counters!

Next I will paint the cabinets!

9 years!

Today my husband and I have been married for 9 years! We celebrated a little early with a get away a couple of weeks ago. We started by going to my parents and droping the kids off to have fun there then we went on our way.

Reminton and Winston having fun at Grandma and Grandpa's. The raft made a great pool!

This is pretty much what the little town of Levenworth looks like. It is lined with a bunch of little shops.

Even Starbucks gets a new look,no weird mermaid logo! The McDonalds also looked pretty fancy but I don't have a picture because no kids means no eating at McDonalds!

A stroll along the beautiful Wenatchee River. Not the greatest picture but it is about the only one we got of us.

A beautiful view from the lodge we stayed at.

A little getaway was very relaxing but we were happy to see these two little sweet monsters again!
